My name is Emily O'Rourke, and I am a marketing professional with a B.S. in Marketing from Kean University, with nearly a decade of experience as a hairstylist.
​
Working as a hairstylist has shaped my creative, client‑focused approach to communication and relationship‑building. My marketing foundation grew through my internship with the NJ Clean Communities Council, where I supported strategic planning, social media management, and content creation for environmental initiatives.
​
Most recently, as a Sales & Social Media Assistant at Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine, I contributed to social media planning, trend forecasting, influencer relations, advertiser outreach, and the fast‑paced workflow of publication production. Across these experiences, I’ve developed strong skills in content development, SEO, and project coordination, and I’m driven by a genuine passion for creating meaningful, engaging marketing work as I continue to grow in the field.

Initially, this website started as a blog for a senior project while I was a Marketing student at Kean University. For this project, I decided to combine my passion for beauty and marketing, created an archival blog that detailed the history of iconic cosmetics brands. Today, I am using it as a portfolio to highlight my professional work. Now, I have kept portions of the base blog, in order to show growth from a student and into my professional works.
